Create Mass, Volume, and Compliance Responses

Use the Mass/Volume tool to create mass, volume, and compliance responses. The resulting response is the mass, volume, or compliance of the entire model or the mass of an individual property or material.

Restriction: Volume responses are only available for the OptiStruct profile.
  1. From the Design Explorer ribbon, click the Mass/Volume tool.

  2. Depending on the response type being created, complete one of the following processes.
    Response TypeSteps
    Mass
    1. From the guide bar, select Mass.
    2. If using the OptiStruct profile, select a single property, material, or element.
      Note: When a mass response is requested by property or material for the entire model, it is evaluated based on the solver output. When it is requested by element, it is evaluated using the HyperMesh model.
    3. On the guide bar, click .
    4. In the microdialog, select Objective or Constraint to simultaneously create one.
      Note: You can continue to define the constraint in the microdialog.
    Volume
    1. From the guide bar, select Volume.
    2. On the guide bar, click .
    3. In the microdialog, select Objective or Constraint to simultaneously create one.
      Note: You can continue to define the constraint in the microdialog.
    Compliance
    1. From the guide bar, select the response type.
    2. On the guide bar, click .
    3. In the microdialog, select Objective or Constraint to simultaneously create one.
      Note: You can continue to define the constraint in the microdialog.
    4. Click to pick the load case.
  3. On the guide bar, click to create the response.
