Residence Time in Geometries Models

The Residence Time in Geometries contact models allow you to track the total time spent by specific particle types inside the boundaries of one or more predefined geometries: a sphere, a box (cuboid), or cylinder.

The time spent is stored in a Custom Residence Time property, allows you to analyze the particle residence time in specific volumes of interest.
Note: To eliminate confusion, the Residence Time attribute already accessible in the Analyst always tracks the overall amount of time the particle has spent in a simulation, regardless of its location.
The three Residence Time in Geometries models allow you to:
  1. Add each of the particle types included in the simulation to the plug-in, determining which particle types should be taken into account when calculating residency times.
  2. Specify the parameters that describe the Geometry for the plug-in:
    • Box
      • Center (x,y,z)
      • Size (x,y,z)
      • Rotation (x,y,z)
    • Cylinder
      • Start Point (x,y,z)
      • Start Radius
      • End Point (x,y,z)
      • End Radius
    • Sphere
      • Center (x,y,z)
      • Radius
Note: Each plug-in can describe only one Geometry at a time, while all of them can be used simultaneously. This means that you can track the residence time of a particle inside a box, cylinder, and sphere in a single simulation.
