Project to CAD

Mesh > Modify > Project to CAD

Description

Project to CAD is used to project the nodes of a FEM entity onto the corresponding CAD entity.

Select

Projection of FEM nodes can be done based on
  1. Model
  2. Body
  3. Face
  4. Edge
When the user has modified the mesh in only few faces of a very large model, and because of it few nodes deviate from the geometry, then it is best practice to use projection based on Face option, instead of using projection based on Body/Model option.

The user needs to select the FEM and the corresponding CAD entities. It is to be noted that the input FEM entity gets locally modified. Undo operation is also supported.

Project mesh edge nodes to CAD edges

This option can be turned OFF to prevent edge distortions caused by projection when the mesh model has been extensively modified and has significant topological differences from the original CAD model.

Options

Projection options is available only for Model and Body based projection. The user can either ignore projections of nodes for few faces or include few faces.

Example

Few nodes that were out of geometry are projected on to the geometry using Face based projection.
