Isovalues/Isolines: about

Displaying isovalues / Isolignes

The (scalar) spatial quantities can be displayed on various supports in the form of :

  • isovalues (color-shade)
  • isolines (the color of lines is equivalent those of the color shade)

The represented color commensurate with the quantity modulus

Supports

Post-processing supports are as follows:

  • spatial group
  • 2D grid
  • 3D grid (only in 3D)
  • cut plane (only in 3D)

Spatial quantity

The spatial quantity depends on the activated physical application*.

The user can also use a formula with spatial quantities.

Note: * The detailed list of spatial quantities available for each physical application is presented in § Result analysis of each physical application.

Physical location

The support to display isovalues/isolines is always a surface support. This support is often in interface between physical regions. The user can thus be interested in the computation and display of the spatial quantities on both sides of this interface, i.e. in each physical region in contact with this interface.

The user benefit from different computation and display options, depending on the support (isovalues : options).

Environment

The computed isovalues/isolines are displayed on the chosen support and vizualized in the graphic standard zone with the following item added:

Note: The environment is the same for the display of isovalues, isolines and arrows

Zone Function
Scales of values

Zone comprising the scales of values calculated and displayed with the correspondence of the color shade .

These scales can be displaced in the standard zone, enlarged or reduced.

Standard graphic zone Zone comprising the geometric view of the device with the displaying of the calculated isovalues and isolines.
Display options zone

Zone comprising the display options of the calculations of isovalues, isolines and arrows.

Each type of calculation has an activable tab to permit to switch from the display options of the isovalues to the display options of the arrows.

Limitation

One calculation of isovalues is not stored. That is why it is possible to calculate and display only one tracing of the isovalues. A new calculation of the isovalues will automatically destroy the previous one.
