Shock Absorbers

Create a virtual shock absorber with finite stiffness and damping between two different parts or between a single part and ground. Virtual shock absorber is applied on spots.

Note: Shock absorbers with damping are only supported for complex eigen value analysis. Running modes are automatically run as complex modes.
  1. In the Project Tree, click the Connections workbench.
  2. On the Connections workbench, select Shock absorber.
  3. For Type, select Shock absorber or Ground shock absorber.
  4. If Type is set to Shock absorber, do the following.
    1. Select End1, and then select the spot.
    2. Repeat for End2.
  5. If Type is set to Grounded shock absorber, do the following.
    1. Select End1, and then select a spot.
    2. Switch to Ground, and then enter the coordinates of the ground point.
  6. Define Stiffness and Damping.
  7. Click Apply.
The virtual connector will appear in the Connections branch. If selected, you will see vectors representing the connection in the modeling window.
