Radio (Receiver)

Station > Define Equipment > Radio

Radio Type

Select the receiver radio button to create a receiver.

Antenna

From the antenna drop-down-list, select the antenna the radio is linked to.

Duty Cycle

Specify the duty cycle percentage.

Carrier Frequency

Specify the carrier frequency for the transmitter.

Spectrum Mask

Create a spectrum mask table by selecting the table button and importing the frequency delta and power values.

Note: The frequency definitions are given as offsets from the carrier frequency.

Necessary Bandwidth

Enter the necessary bandwidth. The necessary bandwidth is defined as the width of the frequency band which is just sufficient to ensure the transmission of information at the rate and with the quality required under specified conditions.

IF Bandwidth

Specify the intermediate frequency (IF) bandwidth. The range of frequencies centered around the IF frequency. A narrower IF bandwidth increases resolution and could lower the noise of a radio but could increase processing time.

Local Oscillator

Select from the drop-down list if the local oscillator is under, above or changing.

1st IF Frequency

Enter the value of the 1st intermediate frequency.

Impedance

Specify the impedance of the receiver by default it is 50 Ohm.

Sensitivity

Specify the minimum signal power in dBm which the receiver can detect a signal.

Processing Gain

Enter the value of the processing gain in dB. For direct sequence spread spectrum type of receivers, the processing gain is entered. Interfering signals are independent of the wanted signal, thus allowing the signal-to-interference ratio after de-spreading to be determined by adding the processing gain to the calculated signal-to-interference ratio before de-spreading.

Required S/I

Enter a value for the required signal to interference ratio in dB for the receiver.

Required S/N

Enter a value in dB for the required signal to noise ratio of the receiver.

Noise Figure

Enter a value for the noise figure in dB of the receiver.

Pulse Width

Enter a value of the pulse width in seconds for the receiver.

IM Attenuation

Specify the intermodulation (IM) attenuation for the second and third order components.

IF Attenuation

Enter a value in dB for the intermediate frequency attenuation. The loss of signal strength as the signal moves through the receiver at the IF frequency.

Image Frequency Attenuation

Enter a value in dB for the image frequency attenuation.

Blocking Level

Enter a value for the receiver blocking level in dBm.
