Split

Use the Split tools to split a cage with a loop or split a single PolyNURBS cage face.

Split Cage with Loop

Draw an edge loop around a cage, subdividing the PolyNURBS object to gain more control when editing the cage.

  1. On the PolyNURBS ribbon, select the Split Cage with Loop tool.

    Tip: To find and open a tool, press Ctrl+F. For more information, see Find and Search for Tools.
  2. Click the edge of an existing cage to create a loop perpendicular to that edge. Mouse over an existing edge to preview the loop.
    The loop is created at the point where you clicked.
  3. Optional: To reposition the loop:
    • Drag the loop.
    • Hold down Ctrl while clicking the loop, and then use the graphic manipulators.
  4. Right-click and mouse through the check mark to exit, or double-right-click.

Split Faces

Split a single PolyNURBS cage face.

  1. On the PolyNURBS ribbon, select the Split Faces tool on the Split icon.

    Tip: To find and open a tool, press Ctrl+F. For more information, see Find and Search for Tools.
  2. Click a point on one edge where you want to split the face.
    Tip: Hold down the Alt key to temporarily disable snaps.
  3. Click a second point on one of the face's other edges to split the face.
  4. Right-click and mouse through the check mark to exit, or double-right-click.
