Define Volumetric Flow Rate at Inlets

Use the Volumetric Flow Rate tool to define volumetric flow rate at an opening surface.

A boundary layer profile for velocity and turbulence fields is calculated based on the distance from no-slip walls and the estimated Reynolds number. In AcuSolve, the profile is recomputed at each time step such that the deforming meshes are properly accounted for in the calculation.

  1. Select the surfaces on which to apply the boundary condition in the following ways:
    • While in the Flow ribbon, select surfaces, then right-click and select Assign Inlet > Volumetric Flow Rate from the context menu.
    • From the Flow ribbon, Profiled tool group, click the Volumetric Flow Rate tool.

      Select surfaces.

  2. In the dialog, input values for each tab.
    • Momentum
Note: Volumetric flow rate is now the defined parameter rather than average velocity.
    • Temperature
Note: This tab only becomes available if the Heat Transfer option is turned on in the Flow ribbon Physics tool.
    • Setting
  3. From the guide bar, execute the command in the following ways:
    • Click to confirm your selection and remain in the tool.

This allows you to continue creating instances and helps you visualize and edit instances with the legend.

    • Click to confirm your selection and exit the tool.
