Modal Analysis
Modal analysis evaluates the frequencies and corresponding modes of vibration of your model.
Modes can be either natural (flexible) or rigid.
The first natural frequency is also called the fundamental frequency of your model. Modes are listed in ascending order so the fundamental frequency is the first mode following any rigid body modes
Rigid body modes are motions of your model, or a part of it, that do not induce strain. Rigid body modes are characteristic of unconstrained or under-constrained models. Rigid body modes are indicated by 0 (or near 0) value frequencies. For unconstrained models, there are 6 rigid body modes. Rigid body modes are detected automatically.
The number of modes value indicates how may total modes (both rigid and flexible) SimSolid finds.
Frequency span – upper limit option finds and lists frequencies until the specified upper limit.
