Partition
Divide a solid part into design and non-design regions by selecting a hole, pocket, or face to offset.
- 
                On the Geometry ribbon, select the
                        Partition tool.

Note: The tool may be hidden in the dropdown menu. To access the dropdown menu, you can do one of the following:- Select 
 at the lower right corner of the
                                currently displayed tool. - Click and hold the currently displayed tool.
 
Holes and pockets are automatically selected and shown in red. - Select 
 - 
                Select faces to partition.
                Selected faces are shown in red.
 - 
                Click a selected (red) feature to execute the partition, or select
                        Apply
                    
                    on the microdialog.
             - 
                Use the microdialog to edit the default offset value. You can edit the offsets
                    for multiple partitions while in editing mode.
                
- Use the Reverse Direction
                        
 button to change the direction of the
                        offset. - Change the Thickness and press Enter. If the thickness you entered is invalid, the text box is highlighted in red.
 
 - Use the Reverse Direction
                        
 - Right-click to exit the tool.
 
Note: 
                
        - If you apply a partition to a design space, it automatically creates a non-design space.
 - For solids, if you enter a thickness of zero, you will get a surface in a new part. For surfaces, if you enter a thickness of zero, those surfaces will be placed into a new part.
 - You can edit the Default Offset value in the Preferences.
 - Only solids can be partitioned, not surfaces.
 
Create or Assign Variables to Parametrize a Model
Create or assign variables to parametrize a model. Variables can be created from a tool or the tool’s microdialog where f(x) is present.
You can create or assign existing variables via the microdialog or in various tools and contexts.
