- Define Mesh Controls
  Use the Mesh Controls tools to define size controls, refinements, and boundary layer controls to be considered for surface and volume meshing.
  - Define Surface Mesh Size
    Use the Surface tool to define local mesh settings on selected surfaces.
  - Define Edge Mesh Size
    Use the Edge tool to define local mesh settings on selected edges.
  - Define Edge Layer Mesh Controls
    Use the Edge Layer tool to generate layers from selected edges during surface meshing.
  - Define Gap Based Refinement Criteria
    Use the Gap tool to define mesh refinement settings based on gaps between surfaces.
  - Define Angle Based Refinement Criteria
    Use the Angle tool to define mesh refinement settings based on angles between surfaces.
  - Define Boundary Layer Settings

    Use the Extrusion tool to create hex mesh on extruded geometry. This is useful for creating mesh for 2D simulations and layered mesh on simplified geometry.

    Use the Zones tool to define mesh refinement settings by shape. These controls provide the capability to get mesh refinement on surfaces enclosed in defined boxes, spheres, and cylinders.

Deactivate Mesh Controls

Use the context menu on the legend to deactivate mesh controls. This excludes them from consideration when processing the solution.

Activate any of the tools in the Mesh Controls tool set.
The corresponding legend displays in the top-left of the modeling window.
Right-click on an instance in the legend and select Deactivate from the context menu.
The instance is greyed out, indicating that it is deactivated.

Tip: To make a mesh control active again, right-click on a deactivated instance in the legend and select Activate from the context menu.
