Define Mesh on Extruded Geometry
Use the Extrusion tool to create hex mesh on extruded geometry. This is useful for creating mesh for 2D simulations and layered mesh on simplified geometry.
-
From the Mesh ribbon, click the
Extrusion tool.
-
On the guide bar, click Find to
identify mappable solids.
Mappable solids are those where mesh can be mapped from source surfaces to target surfaces through along surfaces.
-
Based on the solid selection, select relevant source surfaces.
Non-valid surfaces appear transparent.
Target surfaces are selected automatically based on source surface selection.
-
Define extrusion meshing parameters in the microdialog.
The size along extrusion decides how many hex layers are generated.
You can also define biasing for multiple extruded layers.
-
From the guide bar, execute the command in the following
ways:
- Click to confirm your selection and remain in the
tool.
This allows you to continue creating instances and helps you visualize and edit instances with the legend.
- Click to confirm your selection and exit the tool.
- Click to confirm your selection and remain in the
tool.
