Sketching

Die Design
Create a draw die in Inspire Studio that you can export to Inspire Form to perform a stamping simulation.
- Getting Started
  Adjust the user profile and configure the camera view.
- Part
  Prepare the part to create the draw die.
  - Part
    First define the part and then adjust the draw direction to create a draw die.
    - Assign
      Select a part and define the thickness and position.
    - Trim Pierce
      Define trim and pierce features of the part.
    - Flanges
      Define flange features in the part.
    - Symmetry
      Define the symmetry boundary conditions. You can define up to two symmetry planes. The second symmetry plane must be parallel or orthogonal to the first.
    - Defeature
      Select edges to close openings in a surface, or to sharpen or smooth where adjacent edges connect.
    - Set Form Direction
      Adjust the draw direction to minimize the depth and avoid negative drafts with the help of the Depth Box and Draft Analysis.
    - Extend (Part)
      Create one or more surfaces that extend the part to create a die, to aid in stretching and forming.
    - Double Attach
      Reflect a part along the symmetry plane, then connect the edge to the symmetry plane with a new surface.
- Draw Die
  Create the draw die.
- Flange Die
  Create the flange die.
- Die Compensate
  Modify the die shape to compensate for potential springback after the part is formed.
- Export Options
  Select an export method for your simulation data.

Trim Pierce

Define trim and pierce features of the part.

On the Die Design ribbon, select the Part tool.
Selectable edges are highlighted in blue.
In the guide bar, choose an edge selection method:
- Tangent Selection: When you click an edge, all tangent edges are automatically selected.
- Chain Selection: When you click an edge, all connected edges are automatically selected.
- Single Selection: When you click an edge, only one edge is selected at a time.
Select the edges where you would like to define the trim line.
Selected edges are highlighted in black.

Right-click and mouse through the check mark to exit, or double-right-click.

Selected edges are extracted and designated as trim features in the model browser.


To	Do this
Only view the trim line in the modeling window	In the model browser, click the icon next to the assigned part to hide it from the modeling window view. The trim line remains.
