Constraints can be added to an optimization and need to be satisfied for a feasible exploration.

Create Constraints

Constraints can be added to an optimization and need to be satisified for a feasible design.

Constraints can only be applied to an Optimization exploration.

Do one of the following:
Method Steps Notes
(A) Use the microdialog of an existing response
  1. From the Design Explorer ribbon, select the Responses tool.

Tip: To find and open a tool, press Ctrl+F. For more information, see Find and Search for Tools.
  2. Double-click the callout of an existing response.
  3. In the microdialog, click Response, and then select Constraint.
  4. At the bottom of the microdialog, choose >= (greater than) or <= ( less than), and then enter a value.
  5. To add another constraint, click + and repeat the previous step.
(B) Use the Goals tab in the Design Explorer
  1. From the Design Explorer ribbon, select the Design Variables tool.

Tip: To find and open a tool, press Ctrl+F. For more information, see Find and Search for Tools.
  2. Select the Goals tab.
  3. Click + Create a goal, and then select Constraint.
  4. Next to the constraint, choose a Response.
  5. Under Expression, choose >= (greater than) or <= ( less than).
  6. Enter a Bound Value.
To rename the constraint, double-click the corresponding Name field.

To apply/unapply a constraint to the Active Exploration, turn on/off the corresponding Active check box.
