Jobs
Simulation jobs can be submitted in multiple ways to the default Jobs Apps or Altair One NavOps appliances, depending on user preference.
Altair Drive
- Upload your data to Altair Drive. Use the Solve With option to choose an appliance with the required solver. The solver is automatically detected based on the file's content type.
- If the required solver option is not visible or the content type isn't detected, you can update the file's content type using the Details section on the Info panel.
- When the job is complete, the job result data is copied back to a new folder in the same location as in the input file.
Advantages:
- This is the tested workflow for Altair One HPC submission.
- The temporary folder in Stage will have the logs and the other debugging information in case a copy-back to Altair Drive fails for a job.
- License reconciliation method ensures license check-in after job completion.
- Auto-renewal of auth token during the job for extended storage to appliance connectivity.
-
Action Logs (URL: https://altairone.com/actions) for understanding and debugging for each HPC action such as Job, Session, and Generate 3D Preview will have information (currently generated only for Altair Driveworkflows) which have information for all the steps pertaining to job file copy, resource allocation, authentication, process start, running job, license checkout, completion, license check-in, file copy, in-job error, memory/space errors, etc.,
These consolidated logs are helpful for any issues and failures, review the action log for critical information. Currently, these logs are only generated for Altair Drive workflows.
Jobs Appliance
- Launch the Access appliance to submit jobs.
- Do not upload files to the stage directory, as it is temporary storage and is regularly cleaned up.
- Use the Altair Drive location mounted in the appliance for job submissions. The address is /altairone/<username>/Users/<username>/MyFiles. Bookmark this address for future reference and quick access to yourAltair Drive within Access.
- Here is the list of available appliance solvers with the version details.
Run a simulation job by selecting your input files from Altair Drive and choose a solver in the Jobs appliance. Use the Sessions appliance to launch an application remotely in your browser to view your model output result files.
Launch default appliances and your custom appliances from the My Apps section in Altair Marketplace.
