Prerequisites for Cloud Scaling
A cloud provider account, a licensed on-premise workload manager and a secure network connection must be in place before cloud scaling can be enabled. Optionally all the components can be deployed in the cloud if you do not have an on-prem HPC cluster.
Note: Cloud scaling is supported on Linux platforms only.
- An installation of NavOps 2025.1.0.
- The clocks on the NavOps server, cloud nodes, the workload manager server, and the on-site compute resources should be synchronized using NTP or some other kind of mechanism.
- An account with one of the supported cloud providers.
- An on-premise instance of your workload manager. This can be hosted on a cloud instance for a fully cloud native solution.
- A dedicated network line, VPN setup, or SSH tunnel is required from the on-premise network to the cloud network for seamless communication between the two. Test the VPN setup by logging into the cloud provider's portal and creating a virtual machine and check connectivity between the workload manager server and the cloud virtual machine. A VPN is not required if you deploy all the NavOps components on the cloud.
