Evaluate

Use the Run Analysis tool to run HyperLife Weld Certification.

  1. From the Evaluate tool group, click the Run Analysis tool.

    Figure 1.
    The Evaluate Welds dialog opens.
  2. Enter a name for the run.
  3. Select an evaluation domain.
    • Welds: evaluate only weldlines.
    • Unwelded: evaluate only base metal.
    • Both Welds & Unwelded: evaluate both welds and base metal.
Restriction: Unwelded evaluation is only available if the selected specification is Eurocode 3/FKM/ERRI or if the selected module is Stress Life (SN).
  4. Optional: Activate the Corner Node Evaluation option to compute the results by querying stress from nodes.
    Note:
    • Regulation based: supported only for welded evaluation.
    • Module based: supported for both SN welded and unwelded evaluation.
  5. Optional: Activate Static Assessment to compute static evaluation.
Note: Applies only for Regulation based evaluation. The feature is supported for all regulation-based weld assessment expect ERRI and FKM based unwelded evaluation only.
  6. For Regulation-based evaluation.

If the evaluation domain includes unwelded components, choose a stress combination.

Depending on the selected regulation, Stress Amplitude/Range will be created for the requested stress combination using the base tensor components.
Note: Available stress combinations for unwelded evaluation:
    • TensorComponents
    • AbsMaxPrincipal
    • MaxPrincipal
    • Signedvon
    • SignedMax
    • CriticalPlane
  7. Optional: Active Safety Factor evaluation, for computing safety factor based on stress criteria and Target. Available criteria are Mean stress = Constant or Stress Ratio = constant.
Restriction: Applies only for ERRI and Stress Life evaluation.
  8. Select the events that take part in the weld calculation.
Note: Regulation based : Events created with fixed points should have minimum of 2 subcases for selection.
  9. Optional: For a faster solution time, change the number of processors used for the run (based on availability).
Note: Supported only for Stress Life and ERRI evaluations.
  10. Click Evaluate.
The results of the calculation are saved to C:\Documents\Fatigue\WeldRunHistory.
    The files written out are:
    • HWASCII: Contains utilization scalar results for 1D and location elements.
    • H3D: Contains utilization results in h3d format.
    • Hm: File database containing regulation and result details selected for the analysis.
    • Solver deck: Based on the input model file, a solver deck is exported on evaluation, also containing the 1d elements created in the session to represent the welds (current output formats are fem or bdf). Save model file should be enabled in preferences for the file to be written post evaluation.
    • TXT: Contains the detailed report of element utilization results.
    • HLF: File database containing regulation and result details selected for the analysis.
Note: The solver deck along with the .h3d file created in the working directory can be used to review the session results in HyperView.
