NFX-T: 1045 Static Vehicle Setup

Set up a static vehicle wading simulation using SimLab for CFD-nanoFluidX solution.

Note: A PDF version of this tutorial is available in the Model Files section.
Figure 1. Figure 1. Static Vehicle Wading

This approach is simpler and less computationally expensive than the moving vehicle setup and uses a configuration similar to a wind tunnel. The vehicle remains static, but the road and wheels are assigned boundary conditions which mimic the correct vehicle speed. Water approaches the vehicle from an inlet at the front of the channel. The fluid behavior during water entry and exit is not captured.

A water channel is defined with a water depth of 150 mm.

The vehicle velocity is 2.5 m/s. Channel is created and parts are identified.

Boundary conditions, i.e., AutoDomian and automatic Vehicle Position, Gravity, Suspension Model are defined.

In this lesson you will learn how to:
  • Select Unit System
  • Import SimLab Database
  • Define SPH Flow Solution
  • Create Profile
  • Identify Parts
  • Auto Vehicle Position
  • Define Gravity
  • Suspension Model
  • Create SPH Particles
  • Data check
  • Run Simulation

Prerequisites

To run this simulation, you will need access to a licensed version of nanoFluidX.
