Transient Electric: presentation and typical example
Presentation
The Transient Electric application enables the study of dielectric media subjected to time variable electric field. The electric field is linked to one or several variable electric potentials.
Utilization
Transient Electric applications can be used for the modeling of high voltage devices, spark-gaps, insulators, etc.
It enables studying devices having non sinusoidal time variable electric field (for example: studying the field in HVDC systems insulators during polarity inversions).
Typical example
A typical example of problem treated as a Transient Electric application is presented in the figure below.
Principal results
The quantities available in Transient Electric are the same as in the Steady state AC Electric application.
Those quantities can be plotted depending on time.
