Capabilities

Is SimSolid capable to solve path dependent problems with multiple nonlinear steps?

Yes, this is available for contact and geometric nonlinearity.

Does SimSolid support composite materials?

Yes.

Does SimSolid support nonlinear contacts?

Yes, SimSolid supports nonlinear contacts that can open and close. It currently supports small sliding only; large sliding is not yet supported.

Does SimSolid support material plasticity?

Yes, SimSolid uses deformable theory of plasticity to evaluate small strain plasticity in materials. Elastoplastic behavior can be defined using stress-strain curve or K-n power law function.

Is it possible to combine all non-linear effects into a single model?

No, the combination of contact and geometric nonlinearity is not supported.

Can you perform snap fit operation in SimSolid?

SimSolid doesn’t support large sliding yet which is required to solve snap fit problems.

Can I create a non-linear buckling analyses?

Non linear buckling analysis can be performed via Geometric NL – incremental loading analysis.
