- Quick Mode
  Define a part and its material for a quick molding simulation.
- Advanced Mode
  Define the parts, materials, runner system, and tooling for the molding simulation.
  - Part Cavity
    Use the Part Cavity tool to designate, automatically detect, and reorient the part cavities in your model geometry.
  - Materials
    Assign, modify, import and export materials through the Materials dialog.
  - Runner System
    Use the Runner System tools to add or designate gates, runners, sprues, and injection points.
    - Gate Optimization
      Use the Gate Optimization tool to automatically create and position gates to minimize potential defects in the finished part.
    - Gate
      Use the Gate tool to define the joint between the runner and the part where the material enters the cavity.
    - Runner
      Use the Runner tool to define the the material distributor that transfers the material from the sprue to the gates.
    - Hot Runner
      Use the Hot Runner tool to define the material distributor that transfers the material from the sprue to the gates.
    - Sprue
      Use the Sprue tool to define the connecting path between the injection point and the runners.
    - Injection Point
      Use the Injection tool to define the inlet for the material.
  - Tooling
    Use the Tooling options to add a mold, cooling lines, and inserts.
  - Molding Window
    Use the Molding Window to calculate the optimal Mold Temperature, Melt Temperature, and Fill Time for the model.
  - Process Parameters
    Define the filling, packing, cooling and machine parameters as required for the molding process. Default units shown are MKS (m kg N s).

Run an injection molding analysis to minimize defects and prevent manufacturing problems.

Sprue

Use the Sprue tool to define the connecting path between the injection point and the runners.

Location: Molding tab, Advanced mode, Runner System secondary ribbon

Add/Edit Sprue

If your model geometry does not include sprues, you can create and edit virtual sprues in Inspire Mold.

Click the Runner System icon.
Click Add/Edit Sprue on the Sprue icon.
Click a surface of the model where you want to create a sprue.

Designate Sprue

Identify any sprues that are included in your model geometry.

Click the Runner System icon.
Click Designate Sprue on the Sprue icon.
Select a predesigned component to designate it as a sprue.
Selected sprues are displayed in dark red.
Double right-click to confirm the designated sprues.
