Report

Generate PPT or PDF reports from analysis results. The Report tools are available after you have run an analysis.

Create a Quick Report

Generate an analysis report using the saved settings. You can export the report as a .ppt or .pdf file.

First, run an analysis.

To customize the report settings, see Customize the Report Settings and Create a Report.

  1. On the Casting ribbon, select Quick Report.

  2. Browse to the location where you want to save the file. The default location is C:\Documents\Altair\reports.
    Note: To change the location:
    1. From the File menu, select the Preferences button.
    2. Under Category, select Report.
    3. Change the Save Settings. For more information, see Preferences: Report.
  3. Enter the file name.
  4. Choose a file format:
    • PPTX
    • PDF
  5. Click Save.

Customize the Report Settings and Create a Report

Configure the settings and create an analysis report. You can save the settings so they can be used for quick reports.

First, run a casting analysis.

  1. On the Casting ribbon, select Report Settings.

  2. On the General tab:
    1. Choose a Settings File:
      • Defaults: By default, the report includes the following:
        • the report title (the model name)
        • the description (left blank)
        • an image of the model in the current view
        • an image of the model in the ISO view
        • the first load case
        • the first result type
      • Click Import Settings File to use a saved report settings file.
        Tip: To save a settings file:
        1. Select the Report Settings tool.
        2. Configure the settings as desired.
        3. Click the Save Settings button.
        4. Browse to the desired folder.
        5. Enter the file name.
        6. Click Save.
        To replace the current dialog settings:
        1. Click the Restore button.
        2. Select the desired settings file.
    2. Enter the Title and Description.
      The report title appears on the first slide (front cover), while the report description appears on the second slide first page.
    3. Choose a format to Export As:
      • PPT
      • PDF
  3. On the Views tab:

    1. Select which views of your model you want to be displayed in the report.
      • Standard Views: Select one or more standard views for displaying the results.
      • Saved Views: You can save scenes in a .stmod file using the View tool and use these for capturing hotspot views of the model for specific areas of interest.
  4. In the Results tab:

    1. Select each Stage to include in the report.
    2. For each stage, select each Result Type to include in the report.
  5. To restore the default or custom settings, click Restore and select the desired choice. By default, the report title is the model name; the description is left blank; and an image of the model in ISO view, the first load case, and the first result type are included in the report.
  6. Optional: To automatically open the report after creation, turn on Open Report.
  7. Optional: To save the current settings, which will be used for quick reports, click Save Settings.
  8. Click Create.
  9. Browse to the location where you want to save the file. The default location is C:\Documents\Altair\reports.
  10. Enter the file name.
  11. Optional: Choose a file format:
    • PPTX
    • PDF
  12. Click Save.
