SimLab Tutorial Summary: 3D Axial Flux Machine

Description

This study case is devoted to the modeling and analysis of an axial flux machine with one internal rotor and two external stators. The motor geometry and meshing description are defined by using the AFM modeling tool, as shown below.



Basic EM analysis

All physics definitions of the studying device can be realized with the proposed [MT3D Workflow] toolbar:



The coil regions are shown in the figure below, and it is coupled with a circuit defined with the [Circuit Designer]:



Three basic scenarios (BackEMF, Constant Speed, and Starting) are created for some basic electromagnetic analysis. After solving these scenarios, SimLab can provide some basic post-processing for the eMotor analysis, including the iso-value visualization and the physical quantity plotting:
