Designate Mold Opening Axis

Select the axis along which the mold will open and designate the demolding angle.

  1. Click the Casting tab.
  2. On the Cast Part icon, click Mold Opening Direction.
    The Demolding window appears, along with a gray arrow indicating the direction of the mold opening.
    Note: Surfaces at an angle from the axis smaller than the demolding angle are in a critical orientation to the mold, and may adhere to the mold during the demolding process. Critical surfaces appear in red.



  3. In the microdialog, use the Opening Direction menu to select the axis along which the mold will open.
    The gray arrow reorients to the selected axis.



  4. Set the demolding angle.

    Note: The Demolding angle field defaults to 4 degrees, though for most applications, a tolerance of 2 degrees or less is sufficient.
