Tutorial: Calibrator Analysis with Boundary Conditions
Model a calibrator using boundary conditions.
Open the Tutorial Model

Open the L_profile.x_t tutorial model file from the file menu or by
dragging and dropping the file into the Inspire Extrude window.
Note: The imported model already has profile solid and calibrator dies created.
- Set the display units to Metric (mm kg MPa C s).
Orient the Model
- Click the Calibration ribbon.

Click the Orient icon.

On the model, click the exit surface of the profile solid.
Select Materials

Click the Materials icon.

Select
. - Right click on the material and click Select.

After the material is selected, verify the bottom material under
Selected Materials and deselect the material that is
not needed for this analysis, PVC_Generic.
Note: To deselect a material, right click on the selected material and click Deselect.
Specify Process Data: Inlet

Click the Inlet icon.

Select the profile inlet surface and edit inlet properties.
- Right-click and mouse through the check mark to exit, or double-right-click.
Identify Calibrator Dies
This model has two calibrator dies. Select them one at a time and update the properties.

Click the Calibrator icon.

Select calibrator_die1 and edit die properties.
- Repeat for calibrator_die2.
- Right-click and mouse through the check mark to exit, or double-right-click.
Identify Coolant Channels

Click the Coolant icon.
Coolant channels are automatically identified and highlighted in blue. - Right-click and mouse through the check mark to exit, or double-right-click.
Submit the Job for Simulation

Click on the Analysis tool in the
Run group.

Specify the parameters of the analysis process. Select 3D
Mesh and Coarse mesh size.
- Click Run.
View Simulation Results
When the analysis is complete, double-click the name of the run to review simulation results in the Analysis
Explorer.
Note: You can also open the L_profile.iep file to view the results.
