Altair SEAM 2023 Release Notes

Highlights

  • SEAM is integrated into the Altair HyperWorks suite of products, enhancing the user experience through a synergy between the HyperMesh NVH interface and the SEAM solver to solve a variety of Vibro-Acoustic problems.
  • SEAM uses statistical energy analysis (SEA). Over the past three decades, SEAM has gained recognition in various industries, including automotive, aerospace, and shipbuilding, for its ability to predict and analyze interior noise, vibration, and acoustic environments.
  • To access SEAM, launch HyperMesh NVH and select the High Frequency NVH profile.
  • Significant improvements to the following SEAM features include:
    • Model building
    • Model visualization
    • Post-processing
    • Diagnostics
    • Saving files

Enhancements

Model Building
With the model building enhancements, you can easily build models using the modern infrastructure technology that is available in the Altair HyperWorks suite of products.
Each SEA subsystem can have its own independent visualization with respect to 3D graphics or geometry, allowing you to select, edit, and update the geometrical properties for building SEA subsystems, and connect the SEA subsystems automatically to create an SEA Junction.
Additionally, you can generate SEA junctions for each degree of freedom, connecting structural and acoustic elements.
This shift from a traditional SEA NET-based view to a geometry-based view saves time.
To build the sound packages, use the Noise Control Treatments feature to create, edit, and update treatments on SEA subsystems.
Post-process and Visualize the Results
For an NVH analyst, visualizing and post-processing the results is as important as building the model. Use the Plot Manager to visualize the output and compare and perform additional operations on the results.
With the direct integration of a results reader into the High Frequency profile, you can generate a contour plot to perform results visualization on the model.
To further analyze the model, use the following diagnostics tools:
  • Power flow in/out
  • Excitation contribution
  • NCT effect
  • Perform design of experiments for noise control treatment layer properties using a seamlessly integrated interface to HyperStudy.

Apart from these, SEAM excels in hybrid SEA models, incorporating predicted or measured stiffening effects to enhance accuracy and reliability. It specializes in handling complex models with thousands of subsystems, enabling efficient NVH analysis of large-scale systems.
