Altair HyperLife Crack Growth 2026 Release Notes
New Features
- Support for Strain Life Evaluation to Auto Detect Hotspot Locations for Crack Growth Analysis
- HyperLife Crack Growth supports Strain-Life uniaxial fatigue evaluation to auto detect a hotspot for crack growth evaluation. The Hotspot context supports both manual and automatic hotspot creation options. Automatic hotspot detection utilizes strain life fatigue damage results and damage threshold parameters to identify ‘n’ number of user-requested critical locations. The maximum nodes from these locations are then listed as hotspots for crack property assignment.
- Support for Direction Angles in Hotspot Crack Growth Properties
- “Direction Angles” in the Hotspot context assists in defining multiple directions in the thickness directions at the selected hotspot node. The directions are defined based on angles provided and the plane selected for stress distribution. Each direction is drawn based on the angle calculated from the exposed surface as the reference. From the Hotspot context, right-click and select to highlight the directions defined in the GUI.
- Event Contribution (CSV) Output
- HyperLife Crack Growth supports CSV file output detailing the crack growth contribution from each event defined in the duty cycle. The CSV file is written to the run directory, post crack growth evaluation.
- Result, Contour, and Marker Contexts Supported for HyperLife Crack Growth
- HyperMesh Result context and Post options: Contour and Marker contexts are supported in HyperLife Crack Growth. Exposing these contexts in HyperLife Crack Growth allows post-processing imported results and fatigue results from Strain Life evaluation during automatic hotspot detection.
Enhancements
- Updates to HyperLife Crack Growth HotSpot Context
- Hotspot context supports the following enhancements:
- Ability to select/deselect single and multiple hotspots.
- Option to edit multiple hotspots together.
- Export and import of HotSpotDetails.xml from within the Hotspot context.
- Option to display the crack direction across the thickness.
- HyperLife Crack Growth Result Explorer
- HyperLife Crack Growth result explorer is updated to list hotspot plot options and an evaluated hotspot list. Hotspot plot options support “Crack Growth versus Number of Cycles” and “a/b ratio” plots.
- HyperLife Crack Growth LoadMap Context
- HyperLife Crack Growth LoadMap supports the following enhancements, to
assist in defining the required duty cycle in crack growth analysis:
- Option to reuse an existing event. If you right-click on an event, copy and paste options in the Event window of the LoadMap context are supported.
- You can now move an event up or down within a duty cycle in the Event Window of the LoadMap.
- Event and Event Groups can be renamed.
Resolved Issues
- Application error when evaluating an empty event is resolved.
- User warning is added when events in the LoadMap or batch duty cycle do not contain any load history channels.
- Issue concerning the Hotspot context not retaining the hotspot name upon session reload is resolved.
Known Issues
The following known issues will be addressed in a future release as we continuously
improve the software:
- HyperLife Crack Growth does not support Crack Growth evaluation at mid node.
