Cylindrical Periodic Boundary Known Issues and Limitations
Cylindrical Periodic Boundaries have the following limitations:
- Plugin (API) factories are not supported with Cylindrical Boundary Conditions when the Plugin factory version is 2.2 or higher.
- Simulator Auto Grid Size is not supported with Cylindrical Boundary Conditions.
- GPU CUDA can run up to a 180 degrees angle while CPU is limited to 150 degrees
- Cylindrical Boundaries cannot be used at the same time as Linear Boundaries.
- Cylindrical Periodic Boundaries are not compatible with the Bonded model.
- The Preserve contacts option is not supported with Cylindrical Boundaries conditions.
- Volume packing is not supported with Cylindrical Boundaries Conditions.
- The Geometry must be consistent with the periodic boundaries to ensure that particles encounter a seamless transition when crossing them. For example, a cylinder with 50 sides divides the full circle into segments of 7.2 degrees (360 degrees/50). In this case, setting a boundary at 120 degrees would not align correctly, whereas, a boundary at 115.2 degrees (7.2 degree × 16) would be correctly aligned.
