Hardware Requirements

This section details the minimum system requirements and requisites for running EDEM.

    Note: Some of the GPU Cards listed below do not have display connectors and are designed for processing only

CPU GPU Simulation
  • CUDA enabled GPU with compute capability at least 3.5
  • Nvidia driver minimum version 11.0 of the CUDA toolkit

  • NVIDIA Volta GPU cards (example. V100)
  • NVIDIA Ampere GPU cards (example. A100)
  • NVIDIA Hopper GPU cards (for example. H100)
Note: Only NVIDIA GPU cards support the EDEM CUDA GPU Solver. Other NVIDIA GPU cards are supported within the ranges highlighted.
Hard Disk Drive 100 GB (4 GB for the software) 1 TB or more for simulation data files

*CUDA GPU is required for simulations using Sphero-Cylinder and Polyhedral particles. Multi-Sphere simulations are supported on both CPU and CUDA GPU solvers.
