Add/Edit Gate
If you haven't designed any gates in a CAD tool, you can create and edit virtual gates in Inspire Cast.
- Click the Casting tab.

On the Gate icon, click Add/Edit
Gate.

Click a surface on the runner or part to create a virtual gate.
Selected gates are displayed in dark red. The total number of gates is displayed above the Gate icon.
- Use the microdialog options to define the gate's position, shape, and dimensions.
- Optional: To create more virtual gates, click a surface on the runner or part.
- Right-click and mouse through the check mark to exit, or double-right-click.

Compute Flow Tracing | ![]() |
Enable this option to track the material flowing from each gate or inlet in an analysis. The flow tracing data appears in the Tracer ID result type. |
Gate menu | ![]() |
Use this menu to order the virtual gates in your model. The numbers
assigned to the gates correspond to the colors in the Tracer ID result
