About Weight Analytics

Altair's Weight Analytics (WA) incorporates the weight and balance as well as cost information of a product in the design and development process.

Weight & Balance Engineering, also known as Mass Properties Engineering, refers to the prediction, determination, management and tracking of the weight, Center of Gravity, and Moment of Inertia for a new product. These KPIs are critical for determining the performance and capabilities of the product.

Similarly, for Cost Engineering, KPIs are represented by Cost Vector values (typical elements are Material, Manpower, Transportation, etc) and Make/Buy flag.

The WA solution manages the entire Weight and Balance (W&B) and Cost process, empowering engineering and management teams to control and ensure that W&B and Cost attributes meet the program requirements. Deployed as a common weight management tool across the enterprise, WA enables faster and accurate decision-making with an on-demand access to visualize, analyze, and predict W&B and Cost during the Product Life Cycle (PLC).

WA is highly configurable and works seamlessly within any IT environment. Its open architecture streamlines the time consuming repetitive tasks associated with data consolidation and provides the right information when needed. With powerful Business Intelligence (BI) embedded into WA, you can explore data dimensions quickly, and slice and dice data easily and intuitively.

WA has the following capabilities:
  • Decision-making time is reduced by 50%. You can utilize this time to analyze the information and provide solutions to meet targets.
  • Track and control the weight and cost of the product considering their maturity.
  • Run 'what-if' scenarios that deliver actionable insights for key decision making.
  • Visualize, analyze, and predict risk and opportunities at any point in time.
  • Reduce time for data consolidation by up to 80%, owing to the direct or indirect connection with your organization’s PLM systems.
  • Ensure consistency of information across the enterprise.
  • Use superior reporting capabilities.
