Edit Surface Finish and Treatment

Choose a surface finish and surface treatment method or input a user-defined value.

The surface finish and treatment icons are enabled when performing SN (uniaxial, multiaxial) and EN (uniaxial, multiaxial) fatigue analysis.

  1. Click the Material tool.

    The Assign Material dialog opens.
  2. Under the Finish and Surf Treatment field headings, click .
  3. Use the drop-down menu in the dialog to select a finish or treatment method.
    If you select User, enter a float value between 0.1 and 1.0 for finish or 0.1 and 2.0 for surface. This value is then multiplied with the original fatigue limit and used to provide an updated limit.
  4. Click OK.

Tip: Apply a Finish or Surf Treatment value to all the parts/sets by right-clicking on and selecting Apply current value to all Parts/Sets.
