RD-SL-T: 2000 Three Point Bending
This tutorial demonstrates how to setup a three-point bending model using SimLab.
In this lesson you will learn to:
- Step 1: Create a new bending test from applications section
- Step 2: Define the bending test parameters from fixture configuration menu
- Step 3: Define probes resting surface, bending axis
- Step 4: General contact including all bodies
- Step 5: Solve and post-process the results
Model Description
This validation test is a common test in the industry.
The support cylinders are fixed, and the test specimen is placed on them. The
cylinders have a diameter of 8 mm. The impacting cylinder is moved towards the
specimen. The distance between the support cylinders should be selected to be at
least 10% within the sample ends.
- Default material is used (/MAT/LAW1) in this example
- An imposed displacement of 5 mm is applied on the impacting cylinder
- Units are Length (mm), Time (s), Mass (Mg), Stress (MPa)
- Simulation time: Defined in the Engine-File is 0.01 (s)
Prerequisites
To run this simulation, you will need access to a licensed version of Radioss. You will need an internet connection to watch the video tutorials and download the files.
