Converting Text/XML Models or Projects to the Binary Format

Monarch Utility provides a means of converting previous model and project formats (i.e., xmod, xprj) into the .dmod and .dprj formats without requiring that each model and project be opened in Monarch for faster data processing.

1. Launch the Monarch Utility by selecting Start > All Programs > Altair Monarch 2024 > Monarch Utility and ensure that the button for Convert text/XML models or projects to Binary is selected in the wizard that displays. Click Next when you are finished.

   

    

2. In the next screen that displays, enter the path to the source folder containing the model and project files you wish to convert. You can use the Browse button located beside this field to search for the appropriate folder.

3. Check the box for Include subfolders if you wish to convert the contents of all subfolders as well.

4. Enter the path to the destination folder in which the converted files should be placed in the next screen. You can use the Browse button located beside this field to search for the appropriate folder.

5. Tick the box labeled Preserve subfolders if you wish to retain the same folder structure adopted in the source folder when the selected models or projects are converted. Note that this field only displays when the Include subfolders option in Step 3 is enabled.

   

    

6. Select Next when you are finished.

   The next screen reiterates your instructions for the conversion operation. Select Finish to proceed with conversion if the indicated operation is correct. If you wish to make changes to the operation, select Back.

   This log displays the source paths of the text/XML models that were converted, as well as the destination paths of the binary-format models, a status message about the task's success or failure, and, when applicable, an error message.

   Now that we've successfully converted text and XML models into binary format, let’s copy some models to a new location.
