Representing Null Values in Summary View

When a summary cell evaluates to null, Monarch Classic displays a user-defined string to represent the null value. Null values are displayed in the Summary window when:

  • No data is available to a cell. This often occurs when a key values is displayed across, creating a two-dimensional matrix.

  • A calculation, such as standard deviation or variance, does not have enough data points to yield a valid result.

  • A ratio calculation results in division by zero.

The default string used to represent null values is "(Null)", but you can specify any string you like.

  1. On the Home ribbon, select Options. The Options Window displays.

  2. Select View from the Options Window ribbon to display the View Options window.

  3. Enter the text string in the Display null values as box.

  4. To save this string as the default for future Monarch Classic sessions, select Accept. To restore the previously saved default, click Cancel.
