Time Intervals Options

This window allows you to set time intervals settings, namely the characteristics of the fiscal year, fiscal weeks, fiscal periods and the formatting masks used when displaying them in Summaries. See Working with Time Intervals for more information.

To access this window select Options from the Home ribbon, then select Time Intervals from the Options Window ribbon.

Fiscal Year

Description

12 calendar months

Specifies that the fiscal year consists of 12 calendar months,

The year starts on the first day of [month]

Select the month, the first day of which begins the new fiscal year.

The first full week starts on the first [day] on or after January 1

Specifies that the first full week of the year starts on the first day of the week on or after January 1.

By selecting values from the drop-down menu, you need to specify:

  • the day of the week when the first full week starts

  • whether a partial week at the start of the year is Week 1 or Week 0.

Week 1 always starts on January 1

Select this option if Week 1 always starts on January 1.

52-53 fiscal weeks

Specifies that the fiscal year consists of 52-53 fiscal weeks. When you click on this option additional options below are enabled.

Based on the reference date [month and day]] and each fiscal week starting on [day of week] the year is defined to start on [options]

Select the appropriate values to define the start of the fiscal year.

The year is divided into four 13-week quarters.

Select to divide the year into four 13-week quarters, then pick one of the following:

  • The week distribution pattern is 4-4-5 - Select to specify that each quarter is divided into a period with a pattern of 4 weeks, 4 weeks, 5 weeks.

  • The week distribution pattern is  4-5-4 - Select to specify that each quarter is divided into a period with a pattern of 4 weeks, 5 weeks, 4 weeks.

  • The week distribution pattern is 5-4-4 - Select to specify that each quarter is divided into a period with a pattern of 5 weeks, 4 weeks, 4 weeks.

For 53 week years the extra week is in

If the year has 53 weeks, use this to specify where to put the extra week.

  • quarter n - Specify the quarter in which the extra week falls.

  • period within the quarter n - Specify the period within the specified quarter in which the extra week falls.

The year is divided into thirteen 4-week periods.

Select to specify that the week is divided into thirteen 4-week periods.

Displays sample fiscal years based on the settings you've specified above.

 

Calendar Week

Description

The first full week starts on the first [day of week] on or after January 1.

Specifies that the first full week of the year starts on the first day of the week on or after January 1.

By selecting values from the drop-downs, you need to specify:

  • the day of the week when the first full week starts

  • whether a partial week at the start of the year is Week 1 or Week 0.

 

Week 1 always starts on January 1

Select this option if Week 1 always starts on January 1.

Formatting

Interval

Lists the names of the time intervals available.

 

Formatting Mask

 

Displays the formatting mask applied to the adjacent interval. To edit the formatting mask, double-click on the desired time interval, or select an interval and press the Edit Formatting Mask button .

Sample Value

 

Shows the effect of the formatting masks on today’s date, using the Calendar Week and Fiscal Year setting defined in the Registry if no model is loaded or saved, or the Calendar Week and Fiscal Year setting defined in the model if one is open. To change the date that the sample value is based on, adjust the sample date calendar control accordingly. This is located immediately below the table containing the time intervals on the right hand side.

Description

Make these the default settings

Saves the current settings in the Registry as the defaults for future Monarch Classic sessions. Note: When closing the current model you will be prompted to save the model changes. You must select Yes to save the tab settings as the defaults. If you choose not to save the model changes, the tab settings will not be saved as the defaults.

Restore from default settings

Restores the settings to the default values previously stored in the Registry.
