SS-T: 4110 SN Sequential Fatigue
Create an SN Sequential fatigue loadcase.
- Prerequisites
- Some features used in this tutorial are only available in the SimSolid Advanced version. Switch to Advanced to complete this tutorial.
- Purpose
- SimSolid performs meshless
structural analysis that works on full featured parts and assemblies, is
tolerant of geometric imperfections, and runs in seconds to minutes. In this
tutorial, you will do the following:
- Create SN Sequential fatigue loadcase.
- Manually create sequences.
- Solve and review results.
- Model Description
- The following model files are needed for this tutorial:
- SNManualSequences.ssp
Open Project
- Start a new SimSolid session.
- On the main window toolbar, click Open Project .
- In the Open project file dialog, choose SNManualSequences.ssp
- Click OK.
Review Model
- In the Project Tree, expand the Structural analyses branches.
-
Expand the Loads&Constraints branch and review the
loads.
- Click (Results plot) and choose the desired plot to review regions of high stress.
Add Fatigue Material Properties
If an SN curve has already been assigned, skip this step. Check the assigned material properties by right-clicking Assembly in the Project Tree and selecting .
-
In the main menu, click
.
- In the Generic Materials group, right-click Steel and select Copy from the context menu.
-
Edit the copied material.
- Select Steel1 - Copy_0.
- Click Edit material.
-
Add fatigue curves.
- In the editing field of the dialog, expand the Fatigue properties branch and click Add stress-life (SN) curve....
- Verify the Curve definition method is set to Estimate from UTS.
- Click Apply.
- Click Save.
Create SN Sequential Fatigue Loadcase
- On the main window toolbar, click (Fatigue analysis).
-
In the drop-down menu, select SN Sequential.
The new analysis appears in the Project Tree. The SN Sequential Workbench items are listed.
Create Sequences
- On the workbench toolbar, click (Create sequences).
-
In the Sequence setup window, click Add
row and pick load cases in the order shown in Figure 6.
- Set the Load scale to 50.
- Set Sequence repeats to 10,000.
-
Click OK.
The sequences appear in the Project Tree. You can create multiple sequences for each SN Sequential loadcase.
- Optional: Double-click on a sequence to review/edit in the dialog.
Run Analysis
- On the Project Tree, open the Analysis Workbench.
- Click Solve.
Review Results
- In the Project Tree, Select the Fatigue SN Sequential 1 subcase.
-
On the Analysis Workbench, select .
The Legend window opens and displays the contour plot. The Sequences window opens and lists sequences.Note: If there are multiple sequences in the load case, you can plot damage for each event or you can plot cumulative damage.
