SS-T: 1035 Set Part as Protruded

Set parts as protruded in SimSolid.

Purpose
SimSolid performs meshless structural analysis that works on full featured parts and assemblies, is tolerant of geometric imperfections, and runs in seconds to minutes. In this tutorial, you will do the following:
  • Learn how to set the part type to protruded
Model Description
The following model file is needed for this tutorial:
  • Protruded.ssp

Open Project

  1. Start a new SimSolid session.
  2. On the main window toolbar, click Open Project .
  3. In the Open project file dialog, choose Protruded.ssp
  4. Click OK.

Review Model

  1. Right click the part in the Project Tree or modeling window.
  2. Click Part info.
    Note: The part type is set to General .

Set Part as Protruded

  1. Select the part in the Project Tree.
  2. Right-click on the part and select Set part type as protruded from the context menu.
  3. Ensure the selected part is added to the Part section.
  4. To define the protrusion direction, select any edge along the length of the part as shown in the figure below.

  5. Click OK.

Review Model

  1. Right click the part in the Project Tree or modeling window.
  2. Click Part info.
    Note: The part type is set to Protruded.
