Solution on CAD

Solution can be set up on CAD geometry to simplify model setup and utilize automated meshing capabilities. This also helps to study the effect of geometry changes in the model and also to carry out DOE studies.

Steps to define the CAD-based solution:
  • Import the CAD.
  • Create the required solution.
  • Define mesh control for meshing to specify local mesh size.
  • Apply boundary conditions on the CAD model.
  • Define material and property.
  • Update the solution to obtain the result.
Following process happens automatically to solve the CAD-based solution:
  • Mesh will be generated for CAD bodies.
  • The boundary conditions will be mapped to respective mesh and exported to the solver.
  • The boundary conditions will be retained on the CAD bodies in SimLab.
  • On successful solving the results will be loaded to mesh bodies.
Note: The CAD entities (bodies, faces, edges and vertices) should be retained while the regeneration of the model to process solution based on CAD.
