L - Longest edge of the Tri3 element.

H - Height of the node opposite to that edge.

To find the aspect ratio for a particular Tri3 element

Aspect ratio value for each element is displayed in the SimLab output window. Aspect ratio of a particular element ID is shown.

Manual Aspect Ratio Calculation

To find the aspect ratio for single element, first we have to find out longest edge of the Tri3 element and height of the node opposite to that edge,

Longest edge of the Tri3 element(L) = 2.23479

Height of the node opposite to that edge (h) = ?

$\sin \left(P\right)=\frac{\mathrm{Opposite}}{\mathrm{Hypotenuse}}$

$\sin \left(\mathrm{60.651}\right)=\frac{h}{\mathrm{1.99437}}$

$\mathrm{h}=\sin \left(60.651\right)\times 1.99437$

$\mathrm{h}=0.87165\times 1.99437$

$\mathrm{h}=1.73839$

$\mathrm{Aspect\; ratio\; of\; a\; Tri3\; element}=\frac{\sqrt{3}\times L}{2\times h}$

$=\frac{\sqrt{3}\times 2.23479}{2\times 1.73839}$

$=1.113$
