Query Contact

Body Right Click > Query Contact

Overview

  1. Validating and Visualizing contacts defined in SimLab is made easy through use of Query Contact tool.
  2. Elements participating in contact can be visualized.
  3. Color based visualization of Contact Surfaces (Master/Slave) and Contact Types for Abaqus, OptiStruct, AdventureCluster, Ansys and Permas solver is possible.
  4. Option to set Master / Slave surface names for Abaqus and Permas contact.
  5. The Contact types can be modified while querying the contacts.

Select a body | right click and use Query Contact to list the contact defined with the body.

The contact tree displays the selected body and the connected bodies in tree view.

The check boxes in the tree view can be turned ON / OFF to add / remove the contacts in the contact list.

Dialog Options

Visualizing the contact elements only by picking the table items

In Show only elements mode,

  1. Picking the contact cell will display only the corresponding contact elements along with the bodies involved in that contact in the UI.
  2. Similarly, picking the master or slave cell will display only the corresponding master or slave elements along with the bodies involved in that contact.
  3. Multiple picking of cells in possible using Ctrl and shift keys.

Query Contact Preferences

The preference dialog is used to select colours for the surface type / contact types.

The color settings of this dialog will be remembered in SimLab.
