Create and manage user-defined groups by selecting components from a component list,
selecting components by clicking in a graphical design display, importing from a DB file, or
importing from an Excel file.
Component Group Setup
Create and manage component groups.
Figure 1.
To add a new component group, enter a desired group number, and then click
Add Groups.
It will create a new group raw in the table.
Select a component Filter Type:
Part: Select
component by part name.
Ref: Select
component by reference name.
DB: Select
component from database.
Right-click under Filter/DB File Path to define the
component selection method for each Filter Type:
Part
To select components using a graphic display, click
Direct Component Select....
Select
a component on the current working schematic. Components
with the same part name are automatically selected.
Click
OK to create the group.
To select components from a list, click Select from
Component List....
In the
Select Component From List dialog,
select a part name from the Part Name list table.
Click
Add.
Click
OK to create the group.
Ref
In case of Ref type, setup procedure is the same as Part type, but
the Reference list will be displayed instead.
DB
To import components groups from a database, click Select
Component DB File....
In the
File explorer, select the .txt DB file,
and then click Open.
Optional: Save To Component DB File...: Save a list of parts that
was selected using the one or both methods described above into a text form DB
file with an extension *.txt.
Note: This option is only available for Part and
Ref filter types.
Optional: Delete Selected Comp Group Item: Unnecessary components
groups may be removed by choosing a Delete Selected Comp Group Item
option.
Component Group Setup using Database
Import a DB .txt file to create and manage component
groups.
Click Edit DB to open a new dialog.
Click Add in the Edit DB dialog
opens a file selection dialog in which an existing DB file can be selected. To
make a new DB file, after moving to the directory to save the DB file, enter a
new DB file name and click Open.
Figure 2. DB file names are displayed with their full paths. A new DB file has no
components in it. Adding components (assigning components to a group) can be
done by using detail filters: Naming, Filter, and Comment.
Add components through one of the following methods:
Select
Naming: Method to import components using
[Naming] List. Components can be added to a group by using naming list
such part name or reference designator.Figure 3. Figure 4.
When an empty raw is double-clicked, a Select
Component from List dialog opens.
When there are many names, a desired component can be searched
by entering a part of the name or a key word in the search input
box in the middle of the dialog below the Not Selected List
text. If a desired component name is visible, highlight the name
then click Add.Figure 5.
Click OK to create the component
group.
Select
Filter: Method to import components using
[Filter] – Prefix, Mid-String, Postfix.
In this task, Filter is a text string that is commonly used in
target components. For example, if user specifies text with KOA
and filter type with Prefix, program selects all components with
the prefix.
Click OK to create the component
group.
Figure 6.
Select
Comment: Method to import components using
[Comment] filter.
Components can be added to a group by using their properties or
comments. For example, to choose properties, R and VR-1, use AND
combination to get components from list.Figure 7. Figure 8.
Click OK to create the component
group.
Click OK to import the DB file component groups.
Component Group Type Setup
There are three component group setup types: Part, DB, and Reference
types.
In the Component Group Type section, select a type.
Part: You can select component by part name.
Reference: You can select component by reference name.
DB: You can select component from database.
In case of Part type, you can use Direct Component Select option to select
component from a graphical display of design. With this method, components are
classified with part names only. Another selection type is Select from Component
List to select components from a component list table. Another selection type is
Save To List to save a list of parts that was selected using the one or both methods
described above into a text form DB file with an extension
*.txt.

As shown in Figure 10,
select components from a graphics display. Then the program searches and adds
components that are the same part. Click OK to create a new
group with the selected components. At this point, components can also be selected
by selecting a part name from the part name table.
Select from Component List:
Components can be selected by selecting a part name from the part name list table in
the Select From Component from List dialog by following the
similar procedure that was described earlier for Figure 5.
In case
of Ref type, setup procedure is the same as Part type. But the reference list will
be displayed.
Save To Component DB File: Save a list of parts that was selected using the
one or both methods described above into a text form DB file with an
extension *.txt.
Selected Comp DB File: The saved DB file can also be used in other menus,
Edit DB to edit or Select Component DB File to choose components.Figure 12.
Delete Selected Comp Group Item: Unnecessary components groups may be
removed by choosing a Delete Selected Comp Group Item option.
