Template Editor Action Bar

The Template Editor action bar provides a special set of tools that will help you define a template:

Tool

Description

Trap Type

Allows you to specify a trap type. Choose from Standard Trap, Floating Trap, or Regular Expression Trap.

Trap Characters

Allows you to define traps to capture a specific line of the report.

Refer to the table Trap Characters below or hover over each trap character to determine what kind of characters a specific symbol traps.

Pull Left/Push Right

Allows you to shift traps and fields to the left or right on the Template Editor. This makes it easier to redefine templates if data in a new iteration of a report has shifted left or right.

Reset Trap Line

Removes all characters from the trap line.

Reset Fields

Removes all field definitions from the template.

Description

 

The Alpha Trap button inserts an Alpha trap character at the current cursor position on the trap line.

The Numeric Trap button inserts a Numeric trap character at the current cursor position on the trap line.

 

The Blank Trap button inserts a Blank trap character at the current cursor position on the trap line.

 

The Non-blank Trap button inserts a non-blank trap character at the current cursor position on the trap line.

The Numeric OR Trap button inserts a Numeric OR trap character at the current cursor position on the trap line.

 

The Character Trap button displays a list of special characters that may be used for improved trapping.

The NOT trap button toggles the NOT status of the selected trap characters. See Using the NOT Trap for more information.
