Launching Project Files from Your Desktop
You can load a project file automatically when you start a Monarch Classic session by creating an icon for the project and placing it on the Windows desktop. When you double-click the icon, a Monarch Classic session will start and the specified project will load automatically.
Creating icons for project files
-
Launch Windows Explorer.
-
Navigate to the folder that contains the project file.
-
Right-click on the project file and select Create Shortcut from the context menu. Windows creates a new entry named Shortcut to [project file name].
-
Drag the new entry out of Windows Explorer and onto the desktop, then release the mouse button.
-
Close Windows Explorer.
Modifying icons
-
Right-click on the icon to display a context menu.
-
Select Properties from the context menu. The Shortcut Properties dialog is displayed for the icon.
-
Select the Shortcut tab at the top of the dialog.
-
Select the Change Icon button. The Change Icon dialog displays.
-
Type C:\Program Files (x86)\Altair Monarch 2022\DWMonarch.exe in the File Name box.
Notes:
-
For a 64-bit installation, use C:\Program Files\Altair Monarch 2022\DWMonarch.exe instead.
-
If you installed Monarch Classic in a folder other than the installation default (i.e., C:\Program Files\Altair Monarch 2022), substitute that folder in place of the default one.
-
-
Choose OK in the Shortcut Properties dialog. The Current Icon box will display all of the icon images available in the Monarch Classic executable file.
Note: You may need to scroll right to view additional icon images.
-
Select an icon image from the list, then choose OK.
-
Choose OK in the Icon Properties dialog to return to the Windows desktop.
When you double-click the icon, a Monarch Classic session will start and the specified project will load automatically.
