Adding File Metadata Columns to Tables

There may be instances when your analysis will require the use of file metadata. Data Prep Studio provides an easy means to add the metadata of delimited text, Excel, HTML, JSON, PDF/Text report, and XML files as columns to your tables.

The table below describes the metadata items you can add to a table.

You can add metadata to your table by performing the steps below.

  1. In the Prepare window, select the table with metadata you wish to include in your table. At the bottom of the Change History panel, click the Metadata Columns button.

You can also expand the context menu of any column in the table and then select Column > Add or Remove Metadata Columns from the options that display.

  2. In the Add or Remove Metadata Columns dialog that displays, tick the boxes of each metadata item you want to bring into your table. Alternatively, tick the box for Name to add all of the available metadata items to your table.

  3. Click OK when you are finished.
