Get Started
Learn the basics and discover the workspace.
- User Interface
  Explore the HyperWorks CFD X user interface.
  - Menu Bar
    The menu bar contains pull-down menus that provide access to standard functions such as file management operations, system preferences, and help.
  - Ribbons
    The ribbon allows you to quickly access tools and standard functions, and is located along the top of HyperWorks CFD X. Click on an icon to open the related tool. Hovering over a group of icons may reveal additional tools.
  - Part Browser
    Use the Part Browser to create, organize, and manage the CAE part structure/hierarchy.
  - Modeling Window
    The modeling window is where your model is displayed.
  - Context Menu
    Context menus contain commands and options that allow you to manipulate entities and various parts of the user interface.
  - Status Bar
    The status bar displays information pertaining to the currently loaded model.
  - Guide Bars
    Guide bars guide you through a series of commands, required inputs, and options necessary to complete a workflow that is specific to a tool.
  - Dialogs
    Dialogs are temporary, movable windows designed to enable two-way communication between you and the application.
  - Microdialogs
    Microdialogs are miniature dialogs that allow you to interact directly with selected objects in the modeling window. The primary function of a microdialog is to allow you to enter and accept values in numeric fields.
- Adjust the View
  View controls enable you to control the view and display of your model in the modeling window.
- Selection
  Select and deselect entities to modify with other HyperWorks CFD X tools. Selected entities are outlined to indicate their selection state.
- Measure Length and Angles
  Measure length and angles.
- Move and Orient
  Translate, rotate, and align the model.
- Edit and Delete Parameters Using the Legend
  Use the legends to visualize, edit, and delete instances of model setup parameters.
- Enter Data Using the Table and Plot Area
  Use the table and the plot area together to create, edit, and visualize input points for varying data sets.
- Undo-Redo
  Undo and redo actions performed in HyperWorks CFD X.
- Preferences
  Configure the view and behavior of HyperWorks CFD X.
- Keyboard Shortcuts and Mouse Controls
  Default keyboard shortcuts and mouse controls.
