Configure a Pin

Add guide pins to your tool set to secure the blank between the top and bottom dies during a forming operation.

The top pad is attached to the top die with a spring or hydraulic cushion. The top pad grips the blank against the bottom die in order to maintain the proper positioning and avoid distortion of the blank during a forming operation. The configuration also involves selecting a top die to which the top pad attaches.
  1. From the tool set of an operation, select Pin.
  2. On the guide bar, select Attach Tool and click the part where you want to attach the guide pin.
  3. Click the part again or click Select to confirm.
  4. On the guide bar, select Pin: and click the part you want to use as a guide pin.
    • Click a surface and click Create to create a new pin. Use the microdialog to set the pin length and diameter.

    • Select an edge to create a pin.
    • Select an existing object to use it as a guide pin.

  5. Click Assign to confirm the guide pin.
