FEMT: New Computation Mode "MS multi-positions"

Introduction

A new computation mode has been added to FeMT 2025.

This computation mode called MS multi-positions uses Magneto-Static computations on a motor driven by ID and IQ to obtain efficiency maps from look-up tables. This Magneto-Static solving process is performed with a scenario dependent on the rotor position, i.e. for multiple rotor positions.

This new MS multi-positions computation mode is faster than the TM computation mode, but is slightly less precise.

This new mode allows to compute all the maps including the iron losses, but not the magnet losses.

Input parameters - Motor tab

  • X Factor

With the MS multi-positions computation mode, the X Factor is available. This factor allows the user to adjust the iron losses to his measurements and recompute the motor efficiency with a better accuracy.

  • Torque Computation Mode

With the MS multi-positions computation mode, both Electromagnetic and Useful torque computation modes are available. (The default mode is Useful.)

  • Number of computations requested

With the MS multi-positions computation mode:

    • Number of computations for Jd and Jq (8 by default)
    • Number of computations per electrical period (30 by default)
Remarque : It is not possible to modify the Number of computations for the speed. This field is disabled (grayed out).

Export a test

With the MS multi-positions computation mode, a test can be exported in the following formats: pdf, html, txt and also mat (this mat export allows to export Lookup tables for PSIM or Twin Activate).

Command line

Here is the syntax for the MS multi-positions computation mode:

ComputationMode=MS_MULTI_POS
