Managing the Mesh Refinement on Nearby Objects

Smart mesh refinement can be enabled or disabled to take into account the proximity and size of objects when meshing the model or a specific primitive part.

Parts for which proximity meshing is disabled are meshed in isolation, and the mesh and characteristics of nearby parts will have no effect on the meshing. The proximity refinement can be applied to:
  1. The model (global setting)
  2. Specific part(s) (local setting)
Important: Specifying proximity refinement in the model (global setting) takes precedence over proximity refinement specified on parts.

Limitations

Proximity meshing will only be taken into account for:
  • Geometry parts in proximity to other geometry parts
If a model mesh is used as a simulation mesh, the part will not be remeshed and as a result, enabling proximity refinement on the part will have no affect.
Note: Proximity refinement is not applicable to an FDTD mesh.
