EDEM Analyst - Analyze your results

Learn how to review, examine, and analyze the results of the simulation using EDEM Analyst.

To analyze the simulation results:
  1. Click the icon on the Toolbar.
  2. Use the controls below the simulation window to rewind the simulation to the first Time Step.
  3. Click the icon to play through each Time Step of your simulation.

Visualize the Heat Distribution

The next step is to visualize the heat distribution through conduction between hot and cold particles.

To visualize the heat distribution:
  1. Expand Display in the Analyst Tree.
  2. Select Geometries and select Mesh from the Display Mode dropdown list.
  3. Select Particles and select Temperature from the Color by dropdown list.
  4. Select the Show Legend checkbox.
  5. Set the Min Value: and Max Value: of temperature to 300 K and 500 K respectively.
  6. Click Apply All.
  7. Rewind the simulation to play it back from the beginning.

Add Labels

The next step is to add text to your model in the Viewer window.

To add labels:
  1. Click the on the Tool bar.

  2. Replace the label Message 1 with Initially Hot.
  3. Set the text color to Red.
  4. Select the Position Text checkbox and place the label appropriately.
  5. Repeat the same steps to add a Initially Cold label in Blue color.
  6. Clear the Position Text checkbox.

Review the Simulation

The last step is to review and run the simulation.

To review the simulation:
  1. Using the Viewer Controls, set the Step Factor to Time and Value to 0.02 s.
  2. Play the simulation again.
Note: A hot ball is created followed by two cold balls. Heat is transferred over time between the three balls as shown in the following images at two different Time Steps:

You can modify the display further and also extend the simulation time to be established when all the particles would reach the same temperature state.
